Position Summary

The Anesthesia Technician II supports the department of Surgical Services in the provision of patient care by the coordination of anesthesia supplies and patient related activities.Additional responsibilities include the provision of organizational, communication and assistive skills necessary to facilitate the flow of surgical service activities.These responsibilities include availability/maintenance of instruments, adherence to the principles of asepsis, knowledge of surgical procedures & anesthesia techniques, and support of resources to patients, visitors, physicians, staff and ancillary personnel.Additional duties support orientation/training of new personnel and collaboration with the healthcare team towards achieving fiscal and quality care goals and of outcomes for the divisions within surgical services.The position also supports the OR Manager and Director of Surgical Services in the implementation of surgical services & anesthesia activities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communication to facilitate patient care delivery and unit efficiency
  • Performance of daily organization of anesthesia field & carts
  • Provide anesthesia specific supplies, instrumentation and equipment
  • Adheres to Patient Safety Protocol
  • Maintain unit readiness for emergency cases
  • Assist with instrumentation and supplies for surgery schedule (anesthesia cart readiness)
  • Maintain current/accurate unit information
  • Participate in patient charge process/preference list updates
  • Assist with anesthesia supply room activities & coordination
  • Support staff cross-training
  • Support anesthesiologists by preparing and maintaining anesthesia equipment.
  • Responsible for ordering and stocking anesthesia supplies, equipment and medications
  • Assist with inserting intravenous lines and managing patients� airways.
Qualifications: 

Minimum Requirements

  • Five or more years experience in acute surgical setting preferred, such as specialty OR Technician, Respiratory Therapist or Anesthesia Technician.
  • Completion of Anesthesia Technician Program (ASATT) required
  • Current American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians Certification (Cer.A.T.) required
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Cardiac Life Support card required
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support card required
