The MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute at Long Beach Medical Center is committed to helping patients overcome the challenges of cancer in a new 64,000 sq. ft. Todd Cancer Institute Pavilion. The facility provides an inspirational environment where patients, families and an expert care team work together to develop individualized treatment plans. Long Beach Medical Center currently holds one of the largest cancer programs in Los Angeles County, and has been accredited by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons (ACOS) for its broad range of services. Long Beach Medical Center treats more than 1,800 newly diagnosed patients each year.
The Director, Clinical Operations reports to the Executive Director of MemorialCare’s Todd Cancer Institute. The Director is accountable for planning, developing new services, policy formation, human resource management and organization, financial performance, patient care services operations, and medical management staff relations within his/her area of responsibility.  Is responsible to provide leadership to redesign the health care delivery structure to position the organization to be a leader in an integrated delivery network.
The Director is accountable for providing a vision, leadership, and promoting innovation in developing and implementing strategies and policies to provide high quality patient care in a cost-effective manner.  This job places strong emphasis on the following outcomes:  delivery of quality services, applying best practices, creating a highly-effective work unit, developing and retaining excellent personnel.  The Director is a change leader for the Oncology Programs at MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center: Todd Cancer institute and works closely with the Medical staff and Hospital leadership for strategic planning, marketing and development of the Oncology Program, including advancement of philanthropic support.
The ideal candidate possesses a California RN license from a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree program.  Prior leadership experience is preferred, with at least three (3) years of active nursing practice in the oncology setting.  Private practice experience is a plus. The ability to demonstrate leadership skills, interpersonal skills, and react to emergency situations appropriately is required.  This position requires expertise in marketing, contracting, systems/standards development, information systems and a broad vision of the future of the health care industry.
