Position Summary

Plans, directs and coordinates the development, implementation and operation of the LBMC inpatient pharmacy services (Carelines, Best Practice Teams, purchasing, medication safety, Regulatory Compliance, and specialty drug programs) and selected outpatient services (pediatric clinics under the LBMC licensure), to meet patient, other medical center departments and provider needs.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  • Oversee operation of the inpatient pharmacy services, including coordination of distributive activities and clinical practice, and performance improvement and regulatory compliance for medication management, and system improvements for medication safety.
  • Advisor for pharmacy services in MC-21 computerization process.
  • Coordination of investigational medication use and oversight for pharmacy investigational drug services.
  • Coordinates content and agenda for LBMC Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee.

Minimum Requirements


  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree; licensed pharmacist in the State of California
  • Minimum of 3 years of administrative experience in a large multi-hospital system
  • Knowledge and understanding of California Pharmacy law, Department of Health Services Title 22, G.M.P., HCFA and DEA regulations and JCAHO standards
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles


  • Hospital or pharmacy management residency
  • Active in professional associations and/or community service activities
  • Ability to utilize relevant computer programs
  • Experience or affiliation with a teaching institution particularly involving pediatrics
