Position Summary

The Executive Director, Foundation serves as the chief administrator of the Orange Coast Memorial Foundation, reporting to the CEO of Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center (OCMMC).This position is responsible for the strategic design, implementation, execution and management of a comprehensive fund development program that produces increasing levels of philanthropic support for OCMMC.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership for the Medical Center’s philanthropic development functions including building a strong infrastructure for fundraising, broadening the base of donors, cultivating and stewarding donor and donor prospect relationships, and establishing successful fundraising programs including special events, annual giving, major gifts, and grants and planned giving.

  • Strategy / Leadership - Responsible for the comprehensive development, implementation, administration and evaluation of the Foundation and its fundraising efforts to fund capital needs, service growth, patient programs, education, research and capital reserves through special events, annual campaigns, major gifts, grants and planned giving.
  • Management - Oversee all operational aspects and daily activities of the Foundation. Provide leadership and direction to the Medical Center Board, administration, staff, volunteers and community stakeholders to ensure accomplishment of strategic objectives and revenue targets
  • Solicitation: Actively engage in the identification, cultivation and solicitation of major and planned gift prospects for priority needs, capital campaigns, and the annual fund.
  • Fiscal Responsibility - Ensure that all development activities are within budgeted parameters. Monitor systems to achieve greatest cost and labor efficiencies.
  • Communication / Constituent Relations - Communicate effectively with internal and external constituents. Articulate and align the vision of the Foundation with the Medical Center. Act as ambassador for the Medical Center to the community.Provide donor recognition and stewardship.
  • Legal Compliance - Ensure that funds are raised and utilized in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and donor's wishes.
Qualifications: 

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years’ experience in fundraising with progressive responsibility, preferably in a healthcare environment
  • Strong leadership skills necessary to interface with the community, volunteers, physicians, and administrators
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to cultivate and solicit donors and prospective donors
  • Effective written and verbal communication and public relation skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to develop, manage and prioritize multiple projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
  • Fundraising database management skills required. Raiser’s Edge preferred

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • CFRE designation is preferred
