Position Summary:
  • Oversee laboratory services to ensure the delivery of services to patients. Provides technical oversight.

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate people and the organization�s laboratory operations in the delivery of therapeutic and diagnostic patient care services, delivering high quality, cost-effective patient care. These services include Hematology and Urinalysis for MCWH.

  • Working under the Executive Director, the Laboratory Manager plans for the future of the department by developing strategies, allocating resources, analyzing, recommending, selecting and setting department specific goals and objectives.

  • The incumbent has 24-hour responsibility with 18+FTEs.Position is accountable for scheduling, coordinating and maintaining the resources necessary on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.The incumbent is also responsible for technical support of the clinical testing area.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Laboratory Manager is responsible for the overall operation and administration of the laboratory, including the employment of personnel who are competent to perform test procedures, and record and report test results promptly, accurate, and proficiently.

  • Assures that the laboratory operates in accordance to regulatory agency standards, to include Federal, State, CMS, CAP and TJC.

  • Administer the fiscal responsibility of the laboratory including budget preparation, analyzing organizational and operational data, to control expenses and meet the future needs of the laboratory.

  • Coordinates services between and within departments to ensure quality care and positive patient outcomes.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor�s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory/medical technology sciences.

  • Current licensure with the State of California as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.

  • Minimum six-years experience as a licensed clinical laboratory scientist.

  • Minimum Two (2) years previous Laboratory Supervisor experience preferred
