Back Office Responsibilities:

  • Meet ambulatory Medical Assistant clinical competencies.

  • Perform clinical procedures under supervision of Provider or licensed nurse.

  • Perform the patient rooming process: interview patient and measure vital signs.

  • Maintain effective and organized systems to ensure:

    • Timely patient flow.

    • Rooms stocked with adequate supplies.

    • Maintain instruments.

    • Ensure all related reports and information are available in the Electronic Health Record.

    • Maintenance of all logs and required checks.

  • Provide instructions to patients as ordered/instructed by Provider.

  • Implement orders and treatment plan components as directed by Provider and licensed care team member(s).

  • Ensure documentation is complete, accurate and timely; reflecting patients� plan of care.

  • Implement a teaching plan with patient, family and/or caregiver(s) as necessary.

  • Demonstrates continued development of clinical expertise, current knowledge of healthcare trends, and education related to clinical ambulatory practice.

  • Participate in processes that improve standards of care and practice in the delivery of ambulatory clinical care.

  • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.

  • Perform any additional or miscellaneous duties as requested by the management team within the scope of knowledge and ability.

Front Office Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients upon arrival and departure/checkout

  • Maintain knowledge of insurance requirements including patient financial obligations.

  • Accurately verify patient registration data. Verify insurance eligibility prior to patient visit, collect and receipt payments accurately; following through with all charges. Produce error-free batches which includes counting and balancing in agreement with EHR.

  • Scanning & faxing patient information using the two patient identifiers.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer management system.

  • Ensure patient areas are safe, clear and free from hazards.

  • Knowledge of computer scheduling functions, using proper registration protocols with all new patients, editing existing patient data and utilizing proper visit types.

  • Confirm and/or reschedule all appointments as directed. Reschedule any bumped appointments. Process: kept, cancelled, no show and rescheduled appointments per protocol.

  • Assist new patients with Patient Information Forms.

  • Ensure pre-arrival patient process is complete.

  • Monitor lobby for prolonged patient waiting by notifying appropriate party (patient/provider/nurse) when extended waiting time occurs. Communicate any and all delays to patients and offer alternatives when necessary. Notify management of patient issues.

  • Adhere to Simply Better methodology.

    Experience:One (1) year medical office and clinical experience in an ambulatory care environment required
    Education:High School graduate or equivalent required; Certificate from Accredited Medical Assistant Program required; Phlebotomy Certification preferred; BLS for Healthcare Provider required.
