PAs in Orthopedic surgery play an integral role in the global management of surgery patients, including all aspects of pre-, intra- and post-operative care. Orthopedic PAs perform patient histories, help with the treatment plans, serve as a first assistant in surgery, manage post-operative care and handle a myriad of other patient-related duties.  

The Physician Assistant is responsible for performing clinical assessments and care management services which include developing and interpretation of histories and physical exams, under general supervision and in accordance with standardized procedures.

The PA performs comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physical examinations, interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests, interprets and correlates subjective and objective data to formulate a differential diagnosis and establish a working diagnosis, implements therapeutic interventions for specific conditions when appropriate orders, collects and performs appropriate lab and diagnostic studies performs compartment pressure measurements assists in the surgical suite including first assist, deep and superficial wound closure, application of internal devices and any other procedures delegated by the supervising orthopedic surgeon formulates and implements treatment and therapeutic plans for hospitalization.



1+ year experience as Physician Assistant

Direct department related experience preferred.


Graduated from a nationally accredited Physicians Assistant program

Current license as a Physician Assistant in California

Current BLS, ACLS and PALS provider certification.
