Members of the ServiceNow family are considered subject matter experts responsible for the analysis, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of all components within the ServiceNow platform.  ServiceNow team members work closely with Leadership, other team members, Process Owners, IS, and Operational teams to ensure that administration and implementation are conducted per policy, procedures, and best practices.

The Principal ServiceNow Developer is a key technical member of the ServiceNow team responsible for leading activities related to the overall system design and development.  They guide the team in the ongoing system maintenance.  Partnering closely with the internal development team, process owners, vendors, and end users, the Principal ServiceNow Developer will research and drive innovative initiatives in the ongoing enhancement of the ServiceNow products and tools to facilitate maturing the platform.  They develop recommendations for process improvements, then using agile principles they plan, initiate, manage, and assign tasks to the team to implement best practices.  They understand and support the strategic direction of MemorialCare and work closely with other teams and operational stakeholders to make sure the ServiceNow platform is working optimally.  As a Principal ServiceNow Developer, they develop and document standards for teams to follow, including a broad range of performance criteria and control mechanisms to ensure compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures.



  • Minimum 7 years successful ServiceNow configurations or equivalent combined hands on user experience, experience leading customization projects, and direct ServiceNow knowledge
  • Minimum of 2 full lifecycles of ServiceNow implementations in a lead role demonstrated
  • Past success with programming expertise in Java, JavaScript or other similar functional programming language
  • Proven progressive project management experience working independently as well as in a team situation meeting aggressive deadlines
  • Past experience leading projects requiring an end-to-end workflow perspective, a high-level overall understanding of ServiceNow, and considerable knowledge of ServiceNow end users
  • Experienced integrating ServiceNow with external systems through SOAP or REST web services.
  • Experienced performing ServiceNow major version upgrades
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering customized portal web pages in ServiceNow
  • Proven ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools
  • Demonstrated use of relevant �out of the box thinking� in conjunction with organization wide standardization
  • Experienced working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and managing multiple priorities
  • Proven ability in workflow and data analysis and design techniques, including needs assessment, specification development, quantitative methods, planning and gap analysis
  • Past success leading meetings between business stakeholders, technical resources, and third parties for business requirements and technical solutions
  • Experience working with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team, and interacting with all levels of the organization
  • Proven familiarity with relational databases
  • Experienced planning and organizing day-to-day activities
  • Demonstrated use of effective communication and interpersonal relations to achieve established goals


  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required
  • ITIL certification required
  • Minimum of 2 ServiceNow certifications in any relevant product line
  • Any relevant Project Management certification (PMP, CSM, etc.)
