Purpose Statement / Position Summary
Facilitates MemorialCare’s training strategy and plan initiatives by working with the clinical or patient access and financial system teams to increase end users’ efficient utilization of the Epic electronic medical record to enhance their workflows and documentation.  Uses own clinical/access and/or operational background to construct needs assessments, develop training curriculum and tools, schedule and execute sessions to meet the goals above.  Works with internal/external vendors to provide supplemental and on-going training programs to end users as needed. 
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Assists with the development and provision of content for use in the development of instructor-led training (ILT) and web-based training (WBT) curriculum.
  • Reviews and updates training curriculum including reference tools, practice exercises and skill assessments utilizing a variety of formats. 
  • Achieves a high level of expertise and competence in the proper operation and optimal use of assigned Epic applications.  Draws on own background to consult and advise end users, management, physicians, and others concerning the purpose, features, functions and proper uses of applications.
  • Analyzes unit and department workflows and provides system tools for identified efficiencies.
  • Uses experiences to assist in the analysis of potential application modifications, upgrades, replacements, extensions, or additions that result from changing business conditions or the availability of new technology. 
  • Adheres to training/developing practices, instructional design methodology, environment build and maintenance and tools for every situation to ensure the appropriateness and timeliness of actions. 
  • Increases end user competence and use of MemorialCare technology tools.

  • Minimum of two to three years patient care or patient access and financial experience.
  • Working knowledge of specific EMR applications/modules with “Certification” and/or “Proficiency” status pending as is appropriate to specific vendors such as Epic.  Ability to attain certification within 6 months of hire if applicable.
  • Experience in instructional education, training and/or customer service desirable.
  • Must possess excellent organizational, presentational and listening/verbal skills.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team situation and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Must excel in a fast-paced environment and be self-motivated.
  • Must be available for limited travel. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products preferred.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Captivate desirable.
  • RN license for clinical trainers is preferred for hospital based training.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent operational experience in a health care or information technology related area is desirable.
