Position Summary

VP MCH Outpatient: To provide strategic oversight for complex patient care and business activities within the MCH outpatient environment.  To ensure that outpatient clinical services are provided within a �Best Practice� framework, resources are managed effectively, reimbursement is maximized, and strategic objectives are met.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  • Provide direct supervision, guidance, evaluation, and support to Clinical and in the Outpatient Specialty Centers.
  • Provide supervision for clinical and operational matters in the outpatient centers
  • Develop and maintain linkages with subspecialty physicians
  • Ensure quality standards be identified and met in outpatient centers
  • Strategic and operational planning: In coordination with the VP Strategy & Business Development, COO, CFO, further develop the MCH ambulatory network for strategic growth
  • Monitor budgets ongoing: meet with clinical director and managers and provide them with tools to manage budgets, oversee and coordinate billing functions, charge masters, and contracting for MCH outpatient specialty departments. Implement CCS/MediCal statewide billing system changes
  • Coordinate with Information services to integrate approved tools to optimize patient care including implementing ambulatory electronic medical record, MyChart, Navigation Center/Amazing Scheduling tools, WELL, etc.
  • Provide financial oversight for grants. Participate in authoring grants
  • Manage off site properties, including rent, environment of care, and federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
  • Ensure maintenance of current, complete CCS Special Core Centers list on CMS website
  • Actively participates in LBMMC�s Decision Making Committees (Operations Council, Capital & Construction, and Contract Steering).
  • Is a strong relationship builder and communicator with experience leading diverse work teams, developing and organization-wide strategy for program excellence, engaging community partners, and partnering with physicians and community members.
  • Ensure annual operational budgets are prepared and implemented within areas of responsibility, managed effectively with the budget, and reported accurately on progress made and challenges encountered. Ensures departments operate in fiscally sound manner with an ongoing focus on maximizing efficiency and standardization.
  • Actively participates with campus physician alignment team and with MemorialCare physician alignment team to develop a strong physician provider network within the market.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in an outpatient healthcare setting and progressive acute care healthcare organization with an emphasis hospital operation, progressive physician relations, organizational development and systems integration.
  • In healthcare operations leadership working in cross functional capacity demonstrating success in development, leading overall campus initiatives, campus wide strategic initiative, and/or patient centers.
  • Previous pediatric experience and leadership experience is highly preferred.
  • Credible results-driven leader with respected clinical credentials and patient outcomes.
  • A collaborator with a direct and transparent communication style who listens well and respects, encourages, and integrates the views of others.
  • An energetic and visible leader who takes the time to get to know the medical staffs and understand the unique interests of the different medical staff members and groups within the hospital and in the community.
  • Experience in developing strategic business plans.
  • Bright and outcomes driven with an ability to build immediate credibility through the use of data and identifying and effecting quick wins while putting in place a long-term and sustainable clinical change agenda reflective of the mutual needs of the patients, families, physicians, employees, and the greater organization and community.
  • Knowledge: Organizational dynamics, finance, human resources, planning and operations.


  • MBA, MHA or equivalent experience
  • In addition, clinical degree preferred.
