Position Summary
The Director of Internal Communications will lead the strategy and execution of internal communications across MemorialCare. This role is pivotal in maintaining the brand voice and integrity across all platforms, ensuring that internal communications are consistent, engaging, and aligned with the organization's goals and values. The Director will work closely with senior management teams, employees, and key stakeholders to bridge the information gap between employees and leadership, and to build brand awareness and reputation within the healthcare industry.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
- Develop and implement comprehensive internal communications plans as part of integrated MarComms plans and to support key strategic initiatives across the organization, in collaboration with the Vice President of Communications & Public Relations.
- Oversee the creation and distribution of internal newsletters, company announcements, intranet content, presentations, and CEO communications.
- Ensure that all internal communications are clear, consistent, and aligned with MemorialCare’s strategic goals and brand voice.
- Train, mentor, and develop the internal communications team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with the marketing team across various workstreams, including Brand/Digital, Service Line, and B2B/Outreach, to ensure cohesive messaging.
- Manage the design, content, and production of all internal communication materials.
- Monitor and measure the effectiveness of internal communications, making recommendations for improvement based on feedback and data analysis.
- Ensure development and maintenance of content calendar to ensure timely and relevant internal communications.
- Maintain excellent collaborative relationships with key MemorialCare constituencies and stakeholders.
- Provide strategic guidance on communications initiatives to leadership within key entities across the system.
- Lead efforts in assessing and nominating executives for industry speaking opportunities and awards.
- Ensure that all communications materials are consistent with the brand voice and support the mission and core values of MemorialCare.
*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Minimum Requirements
Qualifications/Work Experience:
- At least 7-10 years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or a related field, with a proven track record of managing internal communications strategies and teams.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team, with strong interpersonal skills to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to develop and implement strategic communication plans that align with organizational goals and objectives.
- Proficiency in using internal communication tools and platforms, as well as experience with content management systems and digital communication channels.
- Strong analytical skills to measure the effectiveness of communication strategies and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to create clear, compelling, and engaging content for various internal communication channels.
- Understanding and alignment with MemorialCare’s mission, core values, and strategic plan, demonstrating behavior consistent with these principles.
- Familiarity with the healthcare industry and its unique communication challenges and opportunities would be highly beneficial.
Education/Licensure/Certification:
- A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field is typically required.
- A Master's degree would be a plus.
