Position: This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Orange Coast Medical Center. improvement/patient safety activities.
The OP Scheduler III is under the direction of the OP Supervisor and Admitting Manager and is responsible for scheduling invasive and non-invasive radiology and cardiology exams and special interventional procedures. The schedulers are responsible for asking for authorization numbers when required by the health plan or medical Group. The scheduler must schedule the patient accurately choosing the correct medical record number so that duplicate MRN’s are not created. The employee must be multi-task oriented and work with the radiologist when needed. Excellent customer service must be maintained with all patients, visitors, clinicians, and co-workers.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

1. Communicates effectively in written and verbal form.
2. Schedules patients accurately and timely.
3. Explains the prep requirements accurately to the patient or office staff.
4. Avoids HIPAA violations by choosing the correct MRN in Radiant/Cadence/Epic.
5. Enters insurance name, identification number, and phone number in notes on the Referral inRadiant.
6. Provides excellent customer service using “Simply Better” and AIDET principles.
7. Understands insurance requirements and asks for authorization numbers when required.
8. Answers calls timely, professionally, and maintains wait time goal of 1 minute or less.
9. Ability to be at work and be on time.
10. Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives.
11. Ability to interact in a positive manner.
12. Ability to prioritize and multitask.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Experience
List the minimum experience, skills, knowledge and abilities required to do the job.
• 1 or more years of experience in scheduling, admitting, or physician office experience
• General knowledge of insurance payors: PPO, HMO, POS, EPO, Medicare, Medi-Cal, &Cal-Optima
• Bi-lingual (English/ Spanish, or English/ Vietnamese) preferred
• General computer skills required including electronic medical record and Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of medical terminology
Education
List the education licensures or certifications preferred or required to do the job.
• High school graduate preferred
• Medical Terminology related course or certificate preferred
