Salary Range:$135,000 to $165,000*

*The salary range shown above is an estimated annual base salary for a full-time position; the actual base salary will be determined using specialty-specific fair market value data and considering your years of relevant professional work experience. Your Total Rewards would include a base salary, an annual performance-based incentive bonus, and other valuable benefits.

MemorialCare Medical Group seeks an experienced Physician Assistant (“PA”) to join our Radiation Oncology team at Saddleback Medical Center in Laguna Hills, CA. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of work experience in Radiation Oncology or Medical Oncology.The selected PA will work closely with our Radiation Oncologists and healthcare team to provide exceptional care to patients undergoing radiation therapy. This role involves conducting patient assessments, developing treatment plans, and offering support throughout the treatment process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive physical assessments of patients.
  • Evaluate and examine patients to assess their health and cancer progression.
  • Collect patient medical histories and perform physical examinations.
  • Order, perform, and interpret laboratory and imaging tests.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor treatment plans in collaboration with oncologists.
  • Assist oncologists during procedures such as biopsies and radiation treatments.
  • Prescribe medications and other therapies as part of the patient’s treatment plan.
  • Provide education and counseling to patients and their families about the patient’s condition and treatment plan.
  • Follow up with patients for regular check-ups and monitor their response to treatment.
  • Communicate effectively with the patient, family, and medical team about the patient’s care and progress.
  • Perform palliative care to help manage cancer symptoms and treatment side effects.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and comply with healthcare laws and regulations.
  • Instruct and counsel patients in matters related to health care management, including diet, medication, and physical and mental health needs, and refer to the appropriate specialists when appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program is required.
  • Two (2) or more years of Radiation Oncology or Medical Oncology work experience is required.
  • Must have or obtain an unrestricted California Physician Assistant License.
  • Board certification (e.g., National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)
  • Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Oncology is preferred.
  • Current BLS/ACLS and DEA.

  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems, preferably Epic.
  • Ability to educate patients and explain treatment options.
  • Practice clinical care informed by evidence-based literature.
