Position Summary

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Orange Coast Medical Center. The employee shall support Orange Coast Medical Center’s strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities.

The Projects Pharmacist is a key position in the Department of Pharmacy. This individual is responsible for a multitude of Pharmacy-related projects and programs. This position may oversee projects that are clinical and/ or operational in nature. This may include but is not limited to automation (automated dispensing stations and central pharmacy automation) inventory management, and pharmacy operations. This position may also participate in regulatory and compliance activities. They will work directly with Pharmacy Administration to develop, participate in, and implement various projects. This position collaborates with other departments at the Medical Center and at the Health system level to develop, participate in, and implement new and existing strategies. The Projects Pharmacist oversees Pharmacy Technicians, intern Pharmacists, student Pharmacists, and other ancillary personnel.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  • Maintains regulatory readiness by ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations including but not limited to Joint Commission, CMS regulations, and California State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Develops, participates in, and/ or implements pharmacy related projects related to automation, inventory management, pharmacy operations, and/ or regulatory compliance.
  • Participates and/ or leads various departmental, campus, and/ or system level initiatives.
  • Ensures that the Department of Pharmacy provides pharmaceutical care in accordance with law and regulations.
  • Performs any applicable quality assurance audits
  • Participates in applicable inspections and surveys
  • Participates and/ or leads various clinical and/ or operational departmental, campus, and/ or system level initiatives.
  • Ability to be at work and be on time.

  • Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

·       Minimum three (3) years of experience in an acute care hospital pharmacy setting (preferred)

·       Intermediate understanding of Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, etc) (preferred)

·       Experience with project management (preferred)

·       An ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with patients, health care workers, and administrators (preferred)

 

Education/Licensure/Certification

·       Current California Registered Pharmacist license (required)

·       Graduated from a School of Pharmacy (required)
