Position Summary
This position is responsible for applying codes in the EHR for all Emergency Room type accounts.Code assignment is based on ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting and CPT.Ensure Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) data elements are accurate.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
- Meets quality standards for ICD-10-CM and CPT code assignment.
- Codes from only compliant documentation.
- Maintains productivity standards to ensure A/R Day goals are met/exceeded.
- Follows company policies, procedures, and directives.
- Maintains required coding credentials.
- Other duties as assigned.
*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Minimum Requirements
Qualifications/Work Experience:
- One or more years’ experience coding ICD-10-CM and CPT coding in an acute care hospital emergency room required.
- Successful completion of an accredited coding program.
Education/Licensure/Certification:
- One of the following credentials required. AHIMA: CCS/RHIT/RHIA or AAPC: COC/CEDC
