Position Summary

This position is responsible for applying codes in the EHR for all inpatient type accounts.Code assignment is based on ICD-10-CM and PCS coding guidelines.Ensure Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) data elements are accurate.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  1. Meeting quality standards for ICD-10-CM/PCS code assignment.
  2. Codes from only compliant documentation.
  3. Achieves optimal MS-DRG and APR-DRG assignment.
  4. Maintains productivity standards to ensure A/R Day goals are met/exceeded.
  5. Follows company policies, procedures, and directives.
  6. Maintains required coding credentials.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

  • Five years acute care hospital coding experience required.
  • Successful completion of an accredited coding program.

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  •  At least one of the following credentials is required.  AHIMA: CCS, RHIT, RHIA or AAPC: CIC
