Pay Range*: $57.31/hr - $89.99/hour

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center.  The clinical supervisor is responsible for the daily operational issues of the Telemetry patient care unit. S/he is able to coordinate care not only for individual patients, but also to lead the care delivery of multiple patients in the nursing care area in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Nursing Department. Responsibilities include monitoring and coordinating patient flow, staff scheduling, department budget, and unit supplies for the assigned shift. As a front-line nurse leader, s/he is accountable for the evaluation, development and retention of department staff (licensed and unlicensed). The Clinical Supervisor collaborates with other professional disciplines/unit leaders to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.

Position Summary

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

1.Utilizes the nursing process and practice standards as a framework fro the management of patient care.

2.Ability to demonstrate leadership in the coordination of patient care across the healthcare continuum.

3.Ability to use supervisory skills to ensure efficient, efficacious and effective shift operations.

4.Prioritizes essential functions.

5.Delegates to licensed and unlicensed personnel.

6.Communicates effectively with the entire healthcare team.

7.Identifies variances from standards of care and practice.

8.Ability to teach, guide and consult with healthcare team members to maintain and improve patient care standards.

10.Contributes to an effective and safe working environment.

11.Serves as a role model and mentors new staff members.

12.Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights.  Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial and other sensitive material in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients and or employees.

13.Demonstrates the ability to use good customer service skills by managing and acknowledging patient-family-significant other expectations.

14.Demonstrates tact, sensitivity and discretion. 

15.Demonstrates the ability to integrate knowledge of job specific competencies.

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Minimum Requirements:

Experience

 

·         Two years acute care experience in Telemetry nursing preferred. In lieu of this experience, consideration will be made for an employee with strong experiential background.

·         Computer, internet, order entry and word processing experience preferred.

·         Supervisory experience preferred

 Education 

·         Current California RN license

·         Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred

·         Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Card

·         Current American Heart Association Advance life support card

·         Specialty certification preferred
