Position Summary

The Enterprise Principal Architects are technology leaders among architects.They drive the technical design of scalable systems for MemorialCare. Enterprise Principal Architects connect MemorialCare’s long-term vision, the business and the technical strategy to build an industry-leading platform. They use deep understanding of distributed systems, algorithms optimization, and healthcare knowledge to build a new category of products intersecting deep learning and computing with industry-leading technologies. They harness groundbreaking technologies and build impactful products and platforms that amplifies the impact of Medical Doctors and MemorialCare’s healthcare systems.

Principal Software Architects require an understanding of a broad spectrum of technologies used within MemorialCare. Principal Software Architects must be well-versed with new and emerging technologies available in the marketplace. They should have a strong understanding of AI technologies, including machine learning, generative AI, computer vision, and their implications to the health care IT landscape. They will be responsible for building a framework to gather performance data of all AI applications and calculate KPIs for performance, drift, safety, fairness, adoption, and impact. They must demonstrate extensive leadership and communication skills while working collaboratively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, ensuring enterprise-class solutions are judiciously designed and properly executed. The position drives best practices and adopts best-in-class architectural standards to be used at MemorialCare. Principal Software Architects involve a high degree of autonomy along with a fundamental ability to infuse project delivery with principles that are agile and lean.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  1. Develop and lead the strategy for AI safety tracking, monitoring, and issue resolution to support enterprise risk management and key business requirements.
  2. Lead development and execution of architecture, engineering, and operational portfolio of AI applications, ensuring evolvement with recognition to business directions, the competitive landscape, and potential disruptive technologies.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate newfound MemorialCare business initiatives with a focus towards how AI can be leveraged to solve business challenges.
  4. Provide technical leadership for the end-to-end evaluation and implementation of new AI solutions, including standard commercial products, custom applications, and hybrid solutions.
  5. Conduct research on new and emerging AI technologies and assess their potential applications in healthcare.
  6. Stay up to date with regulatory issues and ethical AI issues, such as bias, fairness, and transparency, as they pertain to healthcare. Ensure that AI solutions meet regulatory and ethical requirements and that they are developed and implemented in an ethical and responsible manner.
  7. Mentor and provide oversight on architectural and design best practices by reviewing detailed system designs and providing guidance.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in object-oriented programming language(s) required (Microsoft suite preferred).
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in architecting and delivering end-to-end enterprise solutions required.
  • Strong understanding of machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, and other AI related technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in using Jupyter Notebooks for data analysis, visualization, and prototyping machine learning models.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL for querying, manipulating, and managing relational databases.
  • In-depth understanding of statistical concepts such as drift, bias, and fairness, and their application in AI models.
  • Experience with the implementation of data science solutions for anomaly detection, leveraging machine learning algorithms and statistical methods.
  • Proven self-starter with a passion for continuous learning and improvement. Rapidly absorbs modern knowledge bases and incorporates them into new and existing architectures.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand what is required to respond to complex enterprise system issues
  • Strong interpersonal skills in written and verbal communications with both technical and non-technical personnel required
  • Recognized ability to conduct research into emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products as required.
  • Demonstrated experience across areas of architecture, interoperability, modeling, visualization, data warehousing, and data governance
  • Experienced in technical leadership, project management, and working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Knowledge in areas such as networking, security, performance tuning, high availability, and distributed systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the healthcare business environment
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake Cortex for data warehousing, data integration, and advanced analytics preferred.
  • Proven abilities in Cloud computing preferred

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Electronic Medical/Health Record EMR/EHR certifications (e.g. Epic certifications) or professional IT certifications (e.g. Microsoft certifications) required
