Position Summary

The Executive Director of Hospice is responsible for overseeing the overall operations and business affairs of Hospice Services at Saddleback, Orange Coast, and Long Beach medical centers. This position ensures effective management of the program to deliver high-quality and cost-effective hospice services that meet the needs of patients, other hospital departments, and healthcare providers.

The Executive Director oversees all facets of program operations, such as marketing, admissions, clinical services, performance improvement, operations, and human resources. This position may delegate aspects of the program to promote clinical proficiency among team leaders and members to ensure optimal patient care across the continuum, from hospitals or other facilities to home. They ensure that all operations comply with hospice regulations and other applicable state and federal licensing requirements, while also meeting professional and accreditation standards.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  • Develop and execute strategic plan to grow the program and achieve business goals while continuously assessing and enhancing operational performance using KPIs.
  • Develop and implement an annual operating budget that ensures effective financial performance of the program and achieves positive financial outcomes; collaborate with Senior Leadership and cross-functional teams to achieve this
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a marketing and public relations plan to promote within and outside the three medical centers to include agency growth and positive communications with consumers and referrers.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive performance improvement program within the guidelines of Joint Commission, state, and federal regulations to assure the highest standards of care.
  • Develop, revise, and evaluate programs, policies and procedures to maintain a comprehensive technologically current home health service.
  • Cultivate a culture of growth and accountability, driving team development and individual performance; foster a collaborative workplace and mentor team members to reach their potential, improving patient outcomes and organizational success

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

  • Five (5) years of progressive home care management experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Home Health. Hospice licensing, Medicare and accreditation standards

  • Ability to relate professionally with a variety of health professionals and community members

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • A master’s degree in nursing, health care, or business is preferred; a similar bachelor’s degree with increasing management experience is required
