Position Summary

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. The employee shall support Saddleback Medical Center’s strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities.

The LVN in the Cardiac Clinic is responsible for providing patient care in a safe and effective manner. Additional responsibilities include synthesizing patient information, performing focused assessments of patients, and documenting and evaluating per unit standards. Collaboration between healthcare team members and the integration of patient care standards are incorporated into all clinical activities. Specifically, the LVN works within their designated scope of practice to perform nursing interventions to support patients.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  • Provides care within the scope of the Vocational Nurse Practice regulatory standards.
  • Assists the department with information pertaining to the patient and all patient procedures.
  • Follows patient identification procedures and collects and handles specimens.
  • Assesses and implements prescribed interventions for the patient.
  • Recognizes that ethical/legal/medical dilemmas exist in nursing practice and confers with the appropriate resource personnel when making ethical nursing decisions.
  • Participates in maintaining a safe, HIPAA compliant environment for patients and staff.
  • Assists with the care and maintenance of department equipment.
  • Completes accurate charting of patient records and quality measures.
  • Demonstrates clinical competency and leadership through positive behavior, effective communication reliability, clinical proficiency, and accountability.
  • Possesses knowledge and skills of job specific competencies in the clinic.
  • Attends and assists with facilitation of department specific education / training, in-services, staff meetings to remain up to date with policies and procedure application and quality improvements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

  • Minimum of (1) one year experience in a healthcare facility required
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, plus Healthcare database systems required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records preferred
  • Proficient in medical terminology preferred
  • Knowledge and skills for Cardiac specialty, preferred

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Current Licensed Vocational Nurse License to practice in the State of California required
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support Card required
