Position Summary
The Mgr., Operations, RN provides overall support and management of the operations for Surgery Services and Anesthesiology departments. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling all aspects of unit operations in collaboration with nursing and medical staff leadership to achieve clinical and service objectives, fiscal performance targets, the strategic plan goals, and service line initiatives. The Manager is responsible for ensuring delivery of quality patient care in compliance with all regulations, adherence to hospital policies and procedures, and overseeing customer service, patient satisfaction and staff performance and competence.
The Mgr., Operations, RN will also be responsible for providing a team-oriented learning environment to enable staff members to develop behaviors and skills to perform their core responsibilities within Surgery Services.
•Promotes consistent and clear collaboration and communication with interdisciplinary departments, medical staff, and leadership.
•Maintains organized records in compliance with applicable policies and regulations. • Hires, develops, and maintains performance and competence of staff members.
•Creates and implements goals, objectives, and policies for the Surgery Services and Anesthesiology departments that are in support and alignment with Saddleback Medical Center and MemorialCare System.
•Collaborates with the Director to manage the operational and capital budget for the unit to meet financial goals.
•Ensures cost-effective daily operations and allocation of resources including vendor management and contract compliance.
•Maintains effective staffing plans and achieves staff productivity goals.
•Maintains consistent knowledge and compliance with all regulatory requirements associated with the Surgery Services / Operating Room service line.
•Monitors the appropriate unit metrics to assure high levels of patient satisfaction and that core measures and regulatory requirements are being met.
•Serves as a leader to solve problems and implement meaningful department changes to enhance the department and service line.
*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. · Current State of California RN license required
· Bachelor’s degree in nursing required, MSN or equivalent preferred.
· CNOR certification required.
· Current American Heart Association (AHA) – Basic Cardiac Life Support Card (BCLS) required.
· Current American Heart Association (AHA) – Advance Life Support Card (ACLS) required
· One plus years of management or progressive leadership experience in an acute care hospital is required.
· Knowledge of current leadership, management, and quality improvement principles
· Understanding of budget development
· Experience in the direct implementation of new programs and services
· Computer/information system experience
· Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements for areas of responsibility
· Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other departments
