Position Summary
This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. The employee shall support Saddleback Medical Center’s strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities. Through demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge, skills, and competence, the RN Educator facilitates learning experiences for interdisciplinary personnel through direct and indirect methods. The RN Educator coordinates, implements, and evaluates educational programs. The RN Educator acts as an education advisor and consultant to the staff, managers, and other educators to identify gaps in practice and learning needs of staff. The RN Educator functions as a clinical and a professional role model for staff; demonstrating accountability, performance, and responsibility in clinical practice. The RN Educator supports the integration and translation of research into practice as well as participates in performance improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities. The RN Educator provides clinical leadership and serves as a resource person to facilitate problem-solving and decision-making skills of staff. The RN Educator serves as a consultant for various committees and projects as it relates to improved patient outcomes through workforce competency development. The RN Educator functions as a change agent to improve patient care and supports interdisciplinary collaboration. The RN Educator integrates the Code of Ethics into all areas of practice and advocates for patients and staff at all levels. The RN Educator with assigned leadership of our ANCC Magnet® designation maintains a focus and alignment on the ANCC Magnet® guidelines.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
The RN Educator is responsible for the continuous development, coordination, communication, implementation, and evaluation of unit/department/service line/organization practice gaps. The RN Educator plays an integral role in formulating, affecting, interpreting, and implementing organizational policies impacting professional practice and staff competencies related to assigned programs. Responsible for carrying out large and house wide related assignments and programming and conducting the operations of related business to respective professional development programs. Performs professional development work that affects the business operations related to respective professional development programs and serves as a collaborating partner with key stakeholders. Responsible for assisting in the development, monitoring, and implementing of a cost-effective budget within educational programs of the department. Serves as a consultant, advisor, and subject matter expert in areas of expertise to staff, managers and other educators to identify gaps in practice, program related operations and learning needs within the organization. Involved in planning long and short-term business objectives for programs of ownership in workforce skill development. Serves as a problem solver and critical thinker supporting the resolution of matters to promote a positive staff and patient/family experience while delivering service excellence and is able to make prompt decisions in service excellence. Has the ability to be at work and be on time. Has the ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives. Has the ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner. Has the ability to prioritize and multitask.
*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements
Qualifications/Work Experience
Minimum five (5) years recent direct experience in area of specialization.
Teaching experience preferred, including knowledge of adult education learning theories and curriculum design
Project / Program Management experience preferred
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Windows computer skills including proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite
Education/Licensure/Certification
Current California RN license
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing REQUIRED
Master's degree in Nursing preferred
Current AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers certification REQUIRED
Certification in Nursing Professional Development preferred
