Position Summary
This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with our core values: Integrity, Accountability, Best Practices, Compassion and Synergy. The employee shall support Saddleback Medical Center’s strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities. The RN House Officer is responsible for the management of the hospital on assigned shift to provide clinical and administrative direction to all hospital staff in the absence of nursing, ancillary, and administrative department heads.The RN House Officer maintains the quality, quantity and safety of all hospital services, and insures compliance with regulatory guidelines and corporate/hospital policies and procedures.This position requires the full understanding and adherence to the designed standard work to ensure timely and appropriate placement of patients and optimize cost efficiency of unity operations/supplies and non-clinical systems for the assigned shift.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
1.Ability to demonstrate successful leadership including delegation of licensed and unlicensed personnel.
2.Ability to guide, train and consult with staff and shift supervisors. Ability to effectively direct and manage all personnel related issues as they occur on shift.
3.Ability to utilize the nursing process as the framework for the management of patient care and the coordination of patient care across the healthcare continuum.
4.Ability to prioritize, evaluate options and make decisions to ensure the efficient, efficacious & effective management of hospital operations.
5.Ability to identify variances from standards of care and practice. Ability to utilize the Lean management principles.
6.Ability to delegate to license and unlicensed personnel.
7.Ability to communicate effectively with the entire healthcare team.
8.Ability to teach, guide and consult with healthcare team members to maintain and improve patient care standards
9.Ability to be at work and be on time.
10.Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives.
11.Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner.
12.Ability to prioritize and multitask.
*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements
Qualifications/Work Experience:
Five (5) years’ experience in management/supervisory capacity (preferred).
Previous Administrative Coordinator/House Supervisor/Patient Flow Coordinator or leadership experience preferred. In lieu of this experience, consideration will be given for clinical staff with strong education and experiential background.
3-5 years direct patient care experience in an acute care setting.
Computer, internet, order entry and word processing experience preferred.
Education/Licensure/Certification:
Current California RN license required
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification required
Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
