Pay Range: $21.50/hr - $30.65/hr

Sign On: $2,000 signing bonus available to external hires new to MHS employment, contingent upon satisfaction of employment requirements.

Position Summary:

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. The employee shall support Saddleback Medical Center’s strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities.

The Sterile Processing Technician II is responsible for the decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and transportation of surgical and procedural instruments in accordance with industry and regulatory standards and guidelines.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

1.Consistently applies infection control policies/procedures

2.Attends department specific education/training, in-services, staff meetings

3.Meets department sterilization requirements to help reduce surgical site infections

4.Reassembles surgical trays per pick sheets carefully and completely

5.Efficiently and completely picks surgical cases and add-ons

6.Effectively decontaminates surgical instrumentation after use

7.Collaborates positively with team to coordinate patient/procedure activities

8.Dispenses DME's in a timely efficient manner

9.Assists the service with information, reports to improve operations

10.Other duties as assigned

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Minimum Requirements:

Qualifications/Work Experience

·       Experience in Acute Care Hospital / Surgery Service Environment preferred • Knowledge of infection prevention practices preferred

 

Education/Licensure/Certification

·       Medical Terminology preferred
