Position Summary
Directs the operations, overall management of department staff, and carries out the strategic direction of the divisions of emergency services, trauma and critical care on a 24-hour basis.Directs and manages area of responsibility, including physician relations, practice development, staff development, quality improvement activities, and patient/family education using a multidisciplinary approach to integrate the functional operations within the services.Serves as a member of the clinical leadership team, working in partnership with team members on the development and implementation of an integrated delivery system.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
- Accountable for coordination of market optimization and service line priorities in areas assigned. Develops and fosters effective collaboration between departments, programs & services, medical staff and other affiliated services to ensure an integrated approach to care. Interfaces effectively with the MemorialCare entities as necessary.
- Participates actively in strategic planning and budgetary formation in conjunction with the senior leadership team to ensure strong and focused operational and financial management of the service area. Develops and implements action plans to ensure the organization achieves its annual budget objectives.
- Knowledgeable about regulatory requirements and sets standard for all departments to meet or exceed quality expectations.
- Partners with others to deliver the best care at the lowest costs. Works with core leaders, serving as a resource to help reduce costs, enhance revenues, and achieve goals and objectives. Operates within an approved budget, controls charges, expenses, and monthly variances. Optimizes use of financial resources. Meets regularly with operational partners to ensure clinical and business alignment. Ensures and promotes clinical innovation.
- Implements standards of service for care, monitors quality performance, and intervenes as appropriate to take corrective action as needed. Ensures accreditation and regulatory guidelines are met. Assists with operations related to compliance preparedness and audit processes as indicated.
- Serves as a leader. Supports a culture of high caregiver morale and positive relationships with both caregivers and core leaders to enhance productivity and quality of work life. Provides leadership and works collaboratively with core leaders and caregivers to evaluate new opportunities and to develop programs and services that improve the organization’s market position and meet community needs.
- Develops and manages diverse and effective teams to achieve results. Ensures that continuous improvement occurs on the team and within the organization. Oversees major workforce and resource decisions for the departments and service lines assigned.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements
Qualifications/Work Experience:
Minimum 10 years' relevant experience preferred.
Minimum 5 years' leadership experience preferred.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
Trauma Nursing Core (NCC) certification preferred.
Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) or Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) preferred
Education/Licensure/Certification:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or master’s degree in healthcare-related field preferred.
Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of California required.
