Purpose Statement/Position Summary

The Lead Admitting Representative is responsible for a variety of duties as it relates to and supports the assignments of the Admitting Departments and the Admitting Representatives. Provides instruction, direction, and assistance to all Admitting staff members acting in a leadership capacity in the absence of the supervisor. This position also represents the beginning of the revenue cycle for the medical center in aspects of demographic and financial data gathering and processing that will result in proper reimbursement of hospital services. The Lead Admitting Representative is responsible for conducting interviews with patients representing the medical center’s admission and financial policies; obtain demographic and third party payor information necessary for admission and billing of patient accounts; compile, verify, analyze, and distribute demographic, insurance, and financial information to be used by various hospital departments to assure proper compliance and prompt service to patients; assures verified data will provide accurate billing of charges and timely collection of accounts; support hospital and departmental goals in a manner that will enhance the successful operation of the hospital and create a positive image to the public.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and positive work ethic and leadership skills.

Verbal ability is required in discussing confidential admitting and financial matters with patients and/or guarantors.

Minimum typing/keyboard skills of 35 WPM.

Experience and understanding of the hospital and/or medical environment.

Medical and insurance terminology is essential.

Bilingual Preferred.

Position prefers three years’ experience in admitting registration procedures and/or patient accounting environment.

Ability to exercise sound judgment in directing staff and monitoring productivity standards for the department.

Excellent organization and prioritization skills are essential.

Strong organizational skills.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements:

Education/Licensure/Certification
