Position Summary

The Manager, Nursing Excellence is responsible for campus-wide efforts around developing, implementing, monitoring, enhancing, and sustaining nursing excellence initiatives aligned with strategic goals including quality, safety, patient experience, nursing satisfaction outcomes, and Magnet designation. Leads and/or serves on a variety of appropriate internal and external committees to represent nursing excellence, guiding and coaching others for optimum function of shared governance and professional practice structures.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

Major activities:

1.) Lead and develop staff. Retain valued staff; enhance succession planning; maintain a motivated team and
work environment; and promote employee satisfaction in order to maintain a stable and productive staff.
Guide and coach others for optimum function of shared governance and professional practice structures.

2.) Manage and improve systems and processes. Control costs; manage resources; increase efficiency to
ensure effective business and organizational development. Develops, implements, monitors, enhances, and
sustains nursing excellence initiatives aligned with strategic goals including quality, safety, patient
experience, nursing satisfaction outcomes, and Magnet designation. Leads and/or serves on a variety of
appropriate internal and external committees to represent nursing excellence.

3.) Maintain and improve clinical quality. Deliver excellent patient care to ensure positive clinical
outcomes and attract and retain customer loyalty. Serves as Site Administrator for Memorial Policy
Manager and Clinical P&P Chair.

4.) Manage and enhance interpersonal and organizational communication. Maintain and promote
professional communication behaviors; create an efficiency of purpose; promote internal partnering and
collaboration to ensure a productive and satisfying work environment.

5.) Manage financial and organizational value. Add to the general fiscal and organizational health of the
hospital while maintaining department goals. Control costs; manage resources; increase efficiency to ensure
effective business and organizational development.

6.) Manage and develop self. Role and boundary clarity; self-motivation; continuous learning to strive for
personal and organizational excellence.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

Ability to implement change in a positive, sensitive, and forward-thinking manner.
Effective communication skills both in written and verbal presentation with a communication style that fosters trust, credibility, and understanding.
Demonstrated interpersonal relationship skills. Ability to persuade others and develop consensus.
Demonstrated creativity, flexibility, and ability to operate in high-pressure situations.
Excellent organizational skills, planning and problem solving

 

Education/Licensure/Certification:

Current registered nurse (RN) license required.
Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required.
Master's degree in nursing, healthcare, administration or related field preferred.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Minimum 5 years' active nursing experience in a Magnet organization, large academic, or complex health program preferred.
Minimum 3 years' leadership experience managing one or more business units or major function including budgets, people and operations preferred.
