Position Summary

The Anesthesia Technician is responsible for aiding the Anesthesiologists in a safe, appropriate and effective manner under the direct supervision of an Anesthesiologist. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: assembly, set-up and troubleshooting of all anesthesia equipment including anesthesia machines and ventilators, stocking of anesthesia machines and carts with supplies needed for patient care. The Anesthesia Technician assists with the routine and emergency services, to Anesthesiologists and licensed personnel, while working within the scope of practice. This position maintains clinical equipment in the Surgery Services Department and they are responsible for, trouble shooting and communicating with service coordinators, bio-med, vendors and Anesthesiologists, regarding repairs and supplies. Lastly, this position provides in-servicing of the Surgery Services staff in the use of clinical equipment and status of equipment as necessary.

Qualifications: 

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of six (6) months acute care services preferred

  • Completion of Anesthesia Technician Program (ASATT) preferred

  • Computer, internet, order entry and work processing experience preferred

  • Proficient in medical terminology

  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Cardiac Life Support card required

  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support card required

  • Current American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) Certification preferred
