Position Description:

This position will be responsible to receive calls from patients for meal selections in Room Service, input selections into Computrition, and correct menu to comply with diet order while on the phone with patient within designated time allocated per call. May be responsible to communicate tray order to nurse. Will also assist with coordination of duties performed by the positions of Tray Assembler and Nutrition Assistant; will be cross-trained to assist if needed in these positions.  Will be cross-trained.

This position will track missed meals by patients and determine next steps, which could include coordinating patient visit by Clinical Diet Tech, or personally visiting patient bedside for meal selections.
  • Must have completed college course level of Fundamentals of Nutrition with a grade of C or better and preferably Therapeutic Nutrition. 


  • Must demonstrate competency of menu correction during interview process.
  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills necessary. 
  • Registered Diet Technician preferred, but not required. Individuals with DTR status may perform duties of Clinical Diet Technician as assigned.
  • Individual for this position must demonstrate friendly, accurate and excellent customer service skills on the phone and in person.
  • Needs to have good basic computer skills, and clear written and verbal communication skills.  Must be strong team player with the goal of providing outstanding food service to enhance the patient experience, willing to follow established Standard Work Procedures.  Will maintain professional appearance reporting to work in full clean and tidy uniform and meet other requirements of department dress code.
