  • Demonstrates collaborative teamwork and communication style both in-person and on the telephone to ensure optimal workflow and professional dialogue among and between staff and patients

  • Effectively navigate EPIC/CADENCE including scheduling initial and follow-up appointments, billing and reconciling charges, reviewing the medical record, templating, and generating the referral record

  • Abides by department time and attendance policy

  • Accurately posts daily charges and identifies correct CPT codes for all interventions among all disciplines and completes billing reconciliation process in a timely manner.

  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively register and check-in patients, and prepare their charts

  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate with physicians� offices, IPAs, medical groups, and health plans to facilitate the re-authorization of additional physical and speech therapy treatments

  • Reliably collect co-pays for treatments and payments for community programs, close out the cash drawer, and deposit money.

  • Attach appropriate CPT and ICD codes to authorizations or referrals

  • Order department supplies as needed

  • Proficient or advanced computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • General knowledge of third party payors: PPO, EPO, POS, HMO, and workers� compensation

  • Familiarity with IPA and medical group structure and communication preferred

  • Familiarity with CADENCE and EPIC healthcare software preferred

  • Experience with insurance authorization, pre-certification, and tracking preferred

  • Knowledge of applicable Title 22 regulations and Joint Commission (JC) standards preferred

  • Bi-lingual preferred (English & Spanish or English& Vietnamese)

  • Positive work ethic

  • Ability to communicate effectively

  • Strong customer service skills

Education / Licensure / Certification
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent preferred

  • Medical terminology preferred
