Position Summary:
The Program Director of Pediatric Perfusion shall provide the necessary leadership to the Department of Pediatric Perfusion Services to assure safe patient-centered care in a cost-effective manner in an environment which continuously promotes quality improvement. The Director provides expertise and direction in the areas of perfusion finance, contracting, national clinical standards of care, perfusion scope of practice, strategic planning, and clinical policy and protocol development. In concert with the MHVI team, leads the pediatric perfusion program and assists the advancement of ECMO program development across the campus.
The Program Director oversees the implementation of perfusion services for neonatal, pediatric, patients with congenital heart disease including perfusion management and collaborates on oversight of neonatal and pediatric ECMO. The Program Director guides the pediatric perfusion service in product investigation, quality control, education and training, performance improvement, communication and pediatric perfusion responsibilities.
Qualifications: 
Minimum Requirements:
  • The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in a related science field.
  • Graduate from a program accredited by the Accreditation Committee for Perfusion Education in cooperation with the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).  
  • Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) from the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion required.  
  • Minimum of 7 years of consistent practice in the field of pediatric heart surgery with NICU and complex pediatric case experience along with previous management/supervisory experience in a comparable position.   
  • ECMO patient care experience required as well as being experienced ECMO educator/trainer. 
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (CPR & AED) certification is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of the operation, monitoring and maintenance of extra-corporeal pumps and related perfusion equipment, thorough knowledge of medical terminology; and techniques; ability to keep accurate records of vital statistics and replaceable items; ability to manage and develop a highly technical medical unit and coordinate its activities with other medical center activities; ability to work under stressful and emergency conditions; ability to compile budgets, reports and to effectively use computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, email and database software are required.
