Temporary 6 month per diem assignment

Position Summary: The Managed CareClinical Pharmacist is responsible for performing various clinical duties related to utilization management of specialty (injectable) medications.This includes but not limited to reviewing and rendering coverage determinations based on clinical criteria and health plan DOFRs (Division of Financial Responsibility). The Pharmacist will provide in depth clinical expertise to physicians and nurses for MemorialCare Medical Foundation (MCMF).The Pharmacist must have the demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 

Essential Job Outcomes

  • Perform utilization management of specialty (injectable) medications.This includes but not limited to reviewing and rendering coverage determinations based on clinical criteria and health plan DOFRs
  • Completion of utilization review in a timely manner determine by regulatory guidelines
  • Determine/obtain resources needed to support clinical pharmacy services including but not limited to literature review, protocol development, and data collection
  • Provide drug information services to physicians
  • consult telephonically with physicians pertaining to questions and interpretations of clinical guideline criteria
  • Participate in provider and patient education on relevant clinical updates. Provider/patient memo, letter.
  • Contribute to team or departmental projects directed toward the achievement of improved service efficiency and patient outcomes
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: 
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years clinical pharmacy experience preferred
  • Managed care and/or provider group experience preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise collaboration, negotiation and other interpersonal skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacology, medical terminology, pathologies, disease states and related information to medical management plan
  • Ability to utilize analytical skills related to collection, synthesis, analysis and reporting of data
  • Basic PC skills including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel required

Education

  • Doctor of Pharmacy Degree, from an accredited school of pharmacy required
  • Successful completion of post graduate residency training preferred
  • Current license to practice pharmacy by the California Board of Pharmacy
