Position Summary:
The VP, Ancillary &Support Services has responsibility for operational activities and leadership for ancillary clinical services at both MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center and Miller Children & Women’s Hospital Long Beach.  These responsibilities include planning, organizing, developing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the activities and resources (human, material and capital) necessary for quality patient care, efficient operations, and stringent regulatory compliance.  This position performs the job functions in accordance with the mission, vision, values and policies of LBMC & MCWHLB, established by governing bodies.  In collaboration with the Senior Leadership team, provides assistance to the Chief Operating Officer with the overall management of LBMC & MCWHLB.  Direct areas of responsibility include the following departments:
  • Inpatient and Outpatient Pharmacy Services
  • Pathology / Laboratory Services
  • Inpatient and Outpatient Imaging Services
  • Respiratory Therapy
  • Food and Nutrition Services (Contracted Service)
  • Environmental Services / Housekeeping (Contracted Service)
Qualifications: 
Minimum Requirements:
  • A Bachelor'sDegree inhealthcare, business, or managementisrequired; advanced degree is preferred.
  • Clinicaldegree/experienceinahospitalsettingpreferred.
  • Fellow of American College Healthcare Executives (FACHE), or equivalent is strongly preferred.
  • At least 4-7 years of knowledge/experience in principles of management, accounting, problem solving.
  • At least 4-7 years of progressive operational experience in key ancillary and/or support service areas.
  • Requiresunderstanding ofthehealthcareenvironment,economics,policyandfinance. 
  • Understanding and comprehension of the many regulatory requirements for areas of responsibility and ability to supervise areas are in compliance. These include:  California Board of Pharmacy laws and regulation, Health Resources & Services Administration 340B Drug Pricing Program, Department of Public Health including Title XXII and XVII, College of Pathology regulatory compliance, Joint Commission Standards, CMS Condition of Participation, FDA regulation of Blood Bank and Blood Donor Services, Stark Regulations, HIPAA law, California Business and Profession Law, Department of Health Food Services regulations.

  • Ability to use the necessary software systems needed to evaluated data, write memos, etc.
