Position Summary
The Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Technician (CVT) independently performs routine and emergency diagnostic cardiology procedures on neonatal through geriatric patients to include 12 lead and 15 lead electrocardiograms, rhythms strips and application of cardiac ambulatory monitors. Under the direction of Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners and/or Physicians, the CVT assists with tilt table studies, stress testing, nuclear stress testing, pharmacological stress testing and the stress portion of stress echocardiogram within their scope of practice. Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the CVT performs tasks as assigned and is instrumental in facilitating unit flow activities that support patient care in a safe, clean environment. The CVT utilizes effective communication and documents data relevant to the care of the patient within their defined scope of practice. The CVT demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development, as well as incorporating cultural differences, psychosocial and or spiritual needs when providing patient care and or transporting patient. The CVT collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
- Demonstrates the ability to competently perform assigned duties in Non-Invasive Cardiology, Cardiac Rehab, and/or Cardiac Recovery areas.
- Performs 12 lead and 15 lead electrocardiograms, rhythms strips and application of cardiac ambulatory monitors.
- Assists Licensed personnel with tilt table studies, stress testing, nuclear stress testing, pharmacological stress testing and the stress portion of stress echocardiogram.
- Support patients during exercise sessions by collecting vital signs, providing water and assist with mobility as needed.
- Transports patients takes vital signs and patient height/weight, and skin prep prior to patient undergoing procedure.
- Provides education to the patient and family related to the procedure the patient is undergoing.
- Demonstrates the ability to accurately complete documentation, enter appropriate charges and order supplies.
- Cleans procedural and exercise equipment and turns over patient rooms to meet infection control standards.
- Participates in process improvement to support efficient department operations.
- Demonstrates continual development of clinical expertise and current knowledge of healthcare trends and education related to performance.
- Participates and promotes clear consistent communication through phones, email communications, and interdepartmental communications to enhance and streamline day to day operations for scheduling.
- Serves as a role model and mentors new staff members with orientation and successful integration within the department.
- Meets population specific competencies.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights.
- Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial and other sensitive material in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients and or employees.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Minimum Requirements
Qualifications/Work Experience:
- One year of diagnostic cardiology experience preferred.
- Cardiac arrhythmia basic interpretation experience preferred.
- Computer, internet, order entry and word processing experience preferred
- Proficient in medical terminology.
Education/Licensure/Certification:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) card required
