Position Summary

The Registered Dietitian (RD) is a specialist in nutrition who utilizes Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and evidence-based information to promote realistic lifestyle changes that can help patients manage their diabetes, weight and other chronic conditions. The registered dietitian provides expert nutrition guidance and support to promote healthy eating habits and improve overall health. Upon referral from a physician, the registered dietitian conducts nutrition assessments, provides nutritional counseling and education to patients, caregivers, and family members and develops treatment plans.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

1.Works effectively within an interdisciplinary team to safely and effectively provide care to patients.

2.Ability to provide nutritional counseling to all patients on medical nutrition therapy as per scientific literature and best practices.

3.Evaluates patient comprehension and adherence to an individualized care plan by reviewing clinical and learning outcomes.

4.Communicates effectively and courteously with patients and healthcare providers and team members.

5.Be at work and be on time

7.Interacts in a positive and constructive manner

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Qualifications/Work Experience:

1)     A minimum of two (2) years working as an outpatient dietitian or in nutrition counseling is preferred.

2)     Certified Diabetic Educator or Certification in Obesity and Weight Management preferred.

3)     Experience in the community and/or Primary Care setting preferred.

4)     Spanish speaking a plus.

5)     Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

 

Education/Licensure/Certification:

1)      Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics or Food and Nutrition from an accredited college or university required. Master’s Degree in Nutrition or allied health profession preferred. 

2)     Meet the requirements for a Registered Dietitian as dictated by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

3)   Current, active Registered Dietitian certification (also known as Registered Dietitian Nutritionist)confirmed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
