Position Summary
The Sterile Processing Tech II supports all areas of the Sterile Processing department and the Surgical Services unit. Specifically, this position is responsible for the coordination of cleaning activities in the unit. This position must operate in an organized manner and communicate clearly to assist in the smooth flow of sterile processing activities. The Sterile Processing Tech I is responsible for the environmental care of instruments, sterility process and the ongoing maintenance of anesthesia carts. Furthermore, this position, is accountable for the utilization and maintenance of surgical cleaning supplies and responsible for orienting new staff members.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
1. Decontaminates surgical and procedural instruments per manufacturer's recommendations.
2. Assembles, inspects, and tests per department protocol according manufacturer's recommendations.
3. Operates all equipment in Sterile Processing Department including, but not limited to, steam sterilizers, H2O2, instrument and cart washers.
4. Uses instrument tracking system in all areas of Sterile Processing Department including documentation of tests and sterilizer records.
5. Examines and maintains integrity of sterile packages.
6. Prioritize vendor tray processing.
7. Must comply if assigned and/or required to carry and utilize Cisco phones or other communication device Promotes, ensures, and improves customer service to internal and external customers.
8. Must maintain and check Memorial Care email correspondence regularly but at least bi-weekly.
9. Precepts and assists with the orientation of new staff.
10. Promotes, ensures, and improves customer service to internal and external customers.
11. Able to work in a collaborative environment.
12. Perform other related duties as assigned within the scope of training and service.

Specific job-related responsibilities and duties.
1. Consistently applies infection control policies/procedures
2. Attends department specific education/training, in-services, staff meetings
3. Meets department sterilization requirements to help reduce surgical site infections
4. Reassembles surgical trays per pick sheets carefully and completely
5. Efficiently and completely picks surgical cases and add-ons
6. Effectively decontaminates surgical instrumentation after use
7. Collaborates positively with team to coordinate patient/procedure activities
8. Dispense DME's in a timely efficient manner
9. Assists the service with information, reports to improve operations
10. “Other duties as assigned”
*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements
Qualifications/Work Experience:
· 1 year Sterile Processing experience OR Graduate of a Sterile Processing Technical Training Program required
Education/Licensure/Certification:
· Completion of HSPA CRCST Certification required
· Basic Life Support (BLS) optional/preferred
