Position Summary

Responsible to manage analytics across the assigned service lines including category management. Works collaboratively Service Line & Supply Chain leadership to ensure maximum value in the acquisition of new technology, utilization management, supply standardization and maximizing GPO services and opportunities. The analyst prepares comprehensive Category Analytics summaries that aid the sourcing managers/directors in determining the best approach to achieve financial savings and support the needs of the organization. Develops visual analytics and reporting tools using Tableau,SQL, Business Objects, etc. to capture business trends within Supply Chain and other areas as required. Responsible for analyzing cost data by collecting, monitoring, and creating cost models to directionally guide supply chain contractual, equipment and supply saving decisions.  Actively tracks projected savings to actual savings post contractual award. Improves cost status by analyzing results; monitoring variances; identifying trends; recommending actions to Sourcing Managers, Supply Chain Leadership and Strategic Sourcing.  Works closely with Supply Chain Analysts to ensure compliance with contract pricing and maximizes the use of informatics, benchmarking, and GPO membership resources.  

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

Data Analytics

  • Mines big data from available resources and utilizes in-depth understanding of data and data relationships.
  • Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; study changes in product utilization, variability in supplier performance related to supplies and services.
  • Analyzes inventory productivity usage and product obsolescence and patterns.
  • Solves problems quickly, managing expectations, and communicating clearly.
  • Increases productivity by developing automated reporting/forecasting tools.
  • Recommend data-driven solutions to key stakeholders.
  • Test, validate, and implement system solutions in collaboration with System I.S. and Supply Chain across MemorialCare through design and enhancement of databases to support reporting.

Data Visualization

  • Turn abstract information into appealing, revealing, and understandable visualizations that clearly explain the results of the analysis.
  • Challenges conventional thinking and uses data visualization in new and novel ways.
  • Applies the right Visual Analytics and Reporting capabilities to the right business problem.
  • Assists in the creation and maintenance of supply chain metrics and dashboard reports.

Cost Analysis

  • Assists with annual and quarterly addressable spend forecasting.
  • Identifies cost status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts.
  • Guides cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures; providing trends and forecasts; explaining processes and techniques; recommending actions.
  • Develops return on investment (“ROI”) analysis (total cost of ownership associated with supply contracts, equipment and services).
  • Conducts cost assessment of responses to Request for Proposals (“RFP”), Information or Quotations and Capital Equipment.
  • Performs cost analysis for product category or classification comparison.  Analyzes addressable organizational spend to identify fragmented patterns to inform Strategic Sourcing.
  • Performs lease/buy analysis for capital equipment.
  • Maintains professional knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments and growth through participation in educational programs, professional organizations, and activities to maintain knowledge.

Process Improvement

  • Identifies process improvement and cost saving opportunities and communicates those to Manager, Supply Chain Operations and assists in implementation.

Business Process Adherence

  • Adheres to all established Supply Chain Management Enterprise Business Processes (EBPs) as defined and routinely audited.  Is responsible for seeking clarification of processes as necessary to ensure standard of work continuity.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

  • 3 years of relevant knowledge and experience with finance, purchasing, contracting, supply chain analytics, or equivalent combination and education experience.
  • 2 years working in data visualization and reporting.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and make recommendations based on data.
  • Provider healthcare experience.

Preferred Experience

  • EPIC and SQL experience.
  • Experience working in multi-hospital IDN
  • Tableau experience.
  • Clinical/Pharmacy experience desirable.
  • 2 years of PeopleSoft experience.
  • Experience with contract analysis in category analytics (Rx, Med/Surg, or Purchased Services etc)

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, Engineering, Math, or statistics preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Certified Materials and Resource Professional (CMRP) certification preferred.
  • High School Diploma.
