Position Summary

This position is responsible for the ongoing daily operations of Orthopedics/Neuroscience Services.Provides administrative and educational support to the Director to plan and develop all aspects of quality of care to achieve clinical and service objectives, fiscal performance targets, and the strategic plan and service line goals of both Laguna Hills and San Clemente campuses of Saddleback Memorial Medical Center.The Manager has oversight and responsibility for staff performance; development and coordination of education programs & competencies; quality improvement using LEAN methodology; staffing patterns; internal and external relationships for the department; communication to administration and medical leadership; and fiscal management of operational budgets and equipment.The position is accountable to County, State, and Federal agencies as well as The Joint Commission for maintaining compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

Evaluates, plans, and implements standards and measurement tools to assess and improve staff and hospital performance, patient care and ensure regulatory compliance.

Creates an atmosphere of harmony, promoting cooperative behavior and excellence in customer service.

Demonstrates effective leadership principles through communication, planning, and teaching skills.

Exhibits knowledge of accounting principles with an understanding of budget development as well as business economics and inventory management.

Direct operations in a cost efficient manner while meeting budget expectations.

Collaboratively functions in cooperation with the leadership team in developing policies and procedures, strategic planning to efficiently and effectively meet the objectives of fiscally sound operations, quality care and service product lines.

Collaborates with Director, medical leadership and staff to assess, plan, design and implement educational activities.

Advances professional practice by participating in activities that promote professional practice through education that enhances the practice of nursing.

Accounting for hiring, recruitment and retention, coaching and counseling of nursing personnel.

Maintains effective communication which supports optimal working relationships to promote teamwork with physicians, all health care providers to establish internal and external customer satisfaction and quality care.

Motivates, develops, and directs staff, identifying leaders for advancement.

Provides oversight for all technology through planning and recommendation of new facilities or equipment and ensure enhancement of service operations.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

5+ years of progressive management experience in an acute care hospital setting.

Demonstrated experience and competency in operations improvement, clinical  program and educational program development, organizational development, and financial management.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with physicians.

 

Education/Licensure/Certification:

Bachelor Degree in Nursing required; MSN preferred;

Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Card required

Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support required

Current NIHSS certification required
