Position Summary

The Breast Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing Ultrasound Imaging of the Breast to obtain computer pictures of the inside of the breast. These procedures will show certain breast changes, that can be harder to detect on routine mammograms. In addition, this position is responsible for performing technical duties utilizing Ultrasound equipment and supplies to perform procedures on all Breast Center patients. Lastly, the Breast Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing clerical duties specific to the Breast Center service line.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  • Effectively explains ultrasound procedure to patients, by answering questions and providing tailored support as needed.
  • Prepares patient effectively utilizing tools and resources necessary to elicit a clear ultrasound image to be utilized for the further diagnosis / treatment of the patient.
  • Utilizes all electronic systems including ultrasound equipment effectively ensuring images are captured from every angle or section as needed to support the plan of patient care.
  • Practices discretion and expertise to determine which still images to capture to present to the Physician for diagnostic purposes.
  • Maintain patients’ records and medical documentation on ultrasound procedure accurately and in accordance with department and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure the proper sterilization of ultrasound equipment utilized on Breast Center patients consistently to maintain a safe environment of care.
  • Ability to be at work and be on time.
  • Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives.
  • Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

  • 1 Year of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist in an outpatient or Breast Center setting

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Current Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist
  • Certification required Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Card (BCLS) required
  • Graduate Certificate from Ultrasound Program preferred
