Position Summary

Under the direction of the Manager of Compensation Operations, the Compensation Analyst conducts research and provides professional analysis of staff positions throughout MemorialCare System. The position will work closely with the Manager of Compensation Operations and the Human Resources team to ensure that all compensation agenda items are addressed in accordance with MemorialCare’s policies and practices and in compliance with legal requirements and performed with special attention to accuracy and timeliness.The analyst will also conduct surveys and benchmark studies to ensure competitiveness with the industry.Additionally, the analyst will regularly review and update job descriptions to accurately reflect the duties and requirements of each role.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  • Analyze salary data and market trends to determine appropriate salaries and benefits for employees.
  • Conduct job evaluations to determine appropriate job classifications and salary ranges.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on employee pay, promotions, and other compensation-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as legal requirements related to compensation (e.g., FLSA, Pay Transparency and Equal Pay).
  • Perform job analysis and research to determine appropriate job classification, grade, competitive market rate, and internal equity.Researches and analyzes competitive compensation practices in the market and participates in and conducts compensation surveys.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

  • 3 years of experience in Human Resources with a specific emphasis in compensation. Healthcare industry experience preferred. 
  • Ability to complete moderate to complex spreadsheets with large data sets.  
  • A working knowledge of existing compensation software systems to support the administration of established programs.  PeopleSoft experience preferred. 
  • Ability to review and analyze job descriptions. 
  • Exposure to and basic knowledge of California wage and hour laws pertaining to the determination of exemption reviews (e.g., non-exempt vs exempt). 
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment, including Word, Excel, and Powe Point.

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources. 
  • Certification as a professional in Human Resources or Compensation (PHR, SPHR, or CCP) preferred.
