Position Summary

This position is responsible for the oversight of all Admitting activities.This includes planning, organizing, directing, staffing, controlling and evaluating all activities included in the various areas of Admitting.This individual provides leadership and direction in establishing operational goals and objevctives in suppport of MemorialCare and the medical center’s strategic plan.This position upholds the rights of the patients, adheres to regulatory standards and the financial strength of the facilities at Long Beach Medical Center and Miller Children and Women’s Hospital.This position will be responsible for the Admitting budget, as well as oversee and assist with the development and implementation of all related policies and workflows.The primary goals ofthis position are to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction, efficient operations and optimal levels of reimbursement.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

Accountable for the identification, development, and implementation of new system tools, programs and technology.

Provides leadership and direction to the management staff regarding daily operations of the Admitting Department.

Responsible for managing the front-end revenue cycle through the establishment of processes that promote front-endcollections and accurate billing.

Accountable for meeting with various committees to evaluate processes to meet regulatory standards, patient safety goals, and financial requirements.

Provides leadership to employees by demonstrating pro-active, constructive decision making.

Coordiante, regulate, support and standardize policies, procedures and electronic functionality.

Accountable for the department budget and utilization of resources.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

Required: Minimum of 5 years progressive management experience in a healthcare related environment.

Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS and DHS regulatory requirements as it relates to admitting.

Ability to distinguish between HMO, PPO, POS, workers compensation and government plans.

Excellent technical, interpersonal, and communication skills. 

Experience with multi-disciplinary approach to problem solving.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Excellent time management skills and the ability to perform effectively under pressure

Education/Licensure/Certification:

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business or related field.
