Position Summary

Performs a variety of tasks pertaining to the preparation of food for patients and non-patients. This includes: assisting the AM Cook with food preparation of meats, starches, vegetables, and ethnic foods, according to standardized recipes. Prepare the hot foods from the dinner tally, and serve hot foods on lunch and dinner tray line as needed. Demonstrate the ability to coach, mentor and provide outstanding interpersonal skills to the cooks and the production staff. Supervise the production staff and catering staff as needed

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

1. Prepare quantity foods for patients, cafeteria, cater, and doctor’s rooms

2. Monitor Cook’s preparation methods according to standardized recipes

3. Set up and serve hot food on patient tray line according to patient tray tickets/diet.

4. Demonstrates the ability to apply infection control policies/procedures for safe food handling.

5. Follow HACCP guidelines for all steps of food production, Title 22 and JCAHO regulations for food storage, safety and sanitation

6. Demonstrates ability to prepare & cook food for hospital special events.

7. Demonstrates the ability to perform other related duties.

8. Ability to be at work and be on time

9. Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives

10. Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner

11. Ability to prioritize and multitask

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Qualifications/Work Experience:

• Ability to effectively communicate verbal and written forms of English.

• Two years restaurant or experience as an institutional cook preparing large quantities of food preferred.

• Some post high school culinary arts training preferred.

Education/Licensure/Certification:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
