Position Summary

The Manager, System Strategy (Medical Foundation) is responsible for supporting the development, execution, and alignment of strategic initiatives across MemorialCare Medical Foundation (MCMF) and the broader health system. Reporting to the Director, Strategy (Medical Foundation), this role leads business planning, market analysis, financial modeling, provider development planning, and cross-functional collaboration to drive clinic expansion, practice acquisitions, and system-wide strategic priorities. The Manager also supports transaction preparation and post-deal integration but does not lead negotiations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

System Strategy Support

  • Translate system-wide strategic goals into actionable business plans for clinics, service lines, and practice growth.

  • Partner with the VP and executive leadership to cascade strategic mandates and ensure alignment across entities.

  • Track progress on strategic initiatives, develop dashboards, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) or system and foundation priorities.

  • Facilitate cross-entity collaboration to resolve conflicts and ensure consistency in strategy execution.

Business Planning & Growth

  • Lead business planning, market analysis, and financial modeling for new clinic sites, expansions, relocations, provider additions, and practice acquisitions.

  • Develop project rationales and business cases aligned with MCMF’s strategic and growth priorities.

  • Assess current clinic sites and identify opportunities for operational and financial improvement.

  • Performs any and all other duties as necessary to support departmental and organizational goals.

Provider Development Planning

  • Support the development, implementation, and tracking of provider development plans for both the Medical Foundation and IPA divisions.

  • Collaborate with physician leadership, recruitment, and operations to assess provider needs, forecast growth, and align workforce planning with strategic objectives.

  • Analyze provider capacity, productivity, and market demand to inform recruitment, retention, and integration strategies.

  • Monitor progress on provider development initiatives and report outcomes to leadership.

Project Management & Execution

  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring timely execution and alignment with quarterly and board approval deadlines.

  • Gather operational inputs, oversee project deliverables, and coordinate with Decision Support for pro forma creation and validation.

  • Develop executive slide decks, project timelines, capital requests, provider account setups, and closure documentation.

Data Analysis & Market Assessment

  • Perform market assessments using demographic, operational, and competitive data (SG2, Tableau, HCAI, etc.).

  • Build ROI analyses and validate assumptions with operational leaders and Decision Support.

  • Conduct lookbacks and review dashboards to measure project impact and inform future strategy.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Engage with Decision Support, Operations, Finance, Real Estate, physician leadership, and senior leadership to ensure buy-in and alignment on strategic initiatives.

  • Collaborate with hospital business development leadership to coordinate system-wide growth plans.

Transaction Support & Integration

  • Assist with acquisition of physician practices and new sites by preparing financial analysis, modeling, and valuation.

  • Support the VP of Business Development in transaction preparation, due diligence, and post-deal integration, but do not lead negotiations or deal execution.

Operational Excellence & Community Needs

  • Ensure business plans and initiatives meet community needs and support high-quality, efficient care delivery.

  • Participate in performance improvement and patient safety activities.

Reporting & Decision Support

  • Prepare executive-level presentations and reports for project approvals and strategic reviews.

  • Track project timelines, deliverables, and outcomes to ensure accountability and transparency.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years in strategy, business development, or project management within a healthcare system or physician group.

  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, financial modeling, and data visualization skills.

  • Experience managing multiple projects and collaborating across functions.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Knowledge of healthcare market dynamics, clinic operations, provider workforce planning, and practice acquisition processes.

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, or related) preferred.
