Position Summary

The Supervisor of the Medication Refill Program is responsible for overseeing and performing various clinical duties related to the Medication Refill Program. The supervisor will oversee the safe, accurate and timely response to medication refill requests based on established protocols. This role involves direct supervision of a team of pharmacy technicians working in the Medication Refill Program. The supervisor will be responsible for addressing escalation questions and ensuring the team is following established protocols through regular chart audits. They must have the demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Essential Job Outcomes

1.Oversee and manage the Medication Refill team to ensure accuracy and productivity

2.Manage the day-to-day operations of the Medication Refill Program

3.Work collaboratively with the Medication Refill team by providing guidance, training and support

4.Ensure staff adherence to protocols and procedures

5.Understand the processes and workflow within the Medication Refill Protocol

6.Accurately review and process medication refill requests, perform pharmacy calculations and understand when medication should be forwarded for further evaluation

7.Address escalation medication refill requests appropriately and timely

8.Conduct detailed analysis on performance, identify performance gaps, and participate in continuous improvement efforts to address gaps

9.Conduct physician outreach and partner with them to expand the Medication Refill Program

10.Participate in meetings and address performance of the Medication Refill Program

11.Work with physician leadership team to update protocols

12.Possess strong analytic skills

13.Ability to be at work and be on time

14.Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives

15.Other related duties and projects as assigned

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications.   • Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of pharmacy experience as a pharmacy technician.
  • Strong experience in medication management, managing refill-related workflows, and data analytics.
  • Ability to perform pharmacy calculations.
  • Ability to effectively and clearly communicate (written and verbal) in English.
  • Ability to strictly follow written protocols and guidance.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience documenting in an electronic medical/health record (preferably EPIC).
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to successfully and positively interact with physicians, management and employees at all levels throughout the organization and the community.
  • Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • BA/BS in healthcare related field preferred.
  • Current California Pharmacy Technician certification required.
