Pay Range*: $57.31 - $89.96

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. The employee shall support Saddleback Medical Center’s strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities.

The Wound/Ostomy care nurse functions as a clinical and a professional role model for nursing staff; demonstrating accountability, performance and responsibility in clinical practice.The Wound/Ostomy care nurse oversees and as indicated, provides education and training to the nursing staff on wound/ostomy related issues/topics.Additionally, the Wound/Ostomy Care nurse provides age-specific education to patient and family regarding wound/ostomy self-care issues.The Wound/Ostomy Care nurse provides clinical leadership and serves as a resource person to facilitate problem-solving and support decision making skills of staff and patients.The Wound/Ostomy Care nurse functions as a change agent to improve patient care and supports interdisciplinary collaboration.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  • Evaluates nursing care given to a specific patient population and provides guidance to management, staff and physicians, as indicated
  • Identifies needs and plans to implement educational programs as appropriate for staff, patients and the community.
  • Serves in a consultative role to staff, management and/or healthcare professionals within the hospital and community.
  • Participates in department/unit-based performance improvement programs.
  • Serves as a leader in development and attainment of organizational goals.
  • Self-directed in fostering personal expertise and future professional development.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Qualifications/Work Experience:

  •  Bachelor's degree in nursing 
  • Minimum three (3) years recent clinical experience in an Acute Care Hospital setting working with adult patient populations, including wound care.
  • Windows, computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft office applications
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Current California RN License
  • BLS provider required
  • Certification in specialty required (i.e., CWOCN, CWCN, COCN, etc.)
