Position Summary
The Manager of Respiratory Services is responsible for the management of Respiratory Services. The manager will manage, plan, and develop all aspects of quality of care in collaboration with the VP/CNO and the Medical Directors of Respiratory Services to achieve clinical and service objectives, fiscal performance targets, the strategic plan and service line goals of Saddleback Memorial Medical Center. The Manager has oversight and responsibility for staff performance and competence; performance improvement; staffing patterns; internal and external relationships for the department; internal and external marketing and program development; education and development of staff; and fiscal management of operational budgets and equipment. The position is accountable for maintaining compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards set by Country, State, and Federal agencies as well as The Joint Commission.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
Evaluates, plans, and implements standards and measurement tools to assess and improve staff and hospital performance, patient care and ensure regulatory compliance. • Creates an atmosphere of harmony, promoting cooperative behavior and excellence in customer service. • Demonstrates effective leadership principles and communication. • Responsible for budget development and inventory management. • Collaboratively functions in cooperation with the leadership team in developing policies and procedures, strategic planning to efficiently and effectively meet the objectives of providing quality care. • Interprets and equitably administers and enforces policies and procedures. • Maintains effective communication, supporting optimal working relationships to promote teamwork with physicians and all health care providers to establish internal and external customer satisfaction and quality care. • Motivates, develops, and directs staff, identifying leaders for advancement. • Utilizes sound principles of Human Resources management in dealing with staff members. • Recommends new equipment as needed to provide patient care. • Member of respiratory therapy VAT.
*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements
Qualifications/Work Experience:
5+ years experience as an RCP in an acute care hospital setting required.
Experience in a supervisory/management position preferred.
Education/Licensure/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Current California RCP license required.
Credentialed as an RRT by the NBRC preferred.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other members of the healthcare team.
Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements for areas of responsibility (e.g. JCAHO, DHS). Experience in managing issues related to the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, and adult populations.
