Position Summary
This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. The employee shall support Saddleback Medical Center’s strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities.
The Medical Staff Coordinator is responsible for processing credentialing and recredentialing for healthcare providers, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely review. This position verifies education, licensure, certifications, board status, and all requirements related to membership and clinical privileges.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
Manages the end-to-end processing of initial applications and reappointments to the medical staff or allied health professional staff, including privileging, special privilege requests, and temporary privileges.
Familiarity with Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules & Regulations and Policies & Procedures and capable ofexplaining to physicians and their office staff;
Manages or assists with administrative functions such as, but not limited to, answering phones, preparing hospital/emergency department call panels, monitoring and pursuing expirables, filing, responding to verification requests, and other tasks as assigned by the Manager or Director.
Produces and posts or distributes reports as needed (e.g., rosters, fluoroscopy permits, new appointments, suspensions, etc.).Issues and distributes announcements of new members of the medical staff.
Assists with special events and projects as needed.
Positive telephone manner.
Ability to be at work and be on time and follow company policies, procedures and directives.
Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner
Ability to prioritize and multitask
*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements
Qualifications/Work Experience:
Strong computer skills and utilization of the Microsoft Office Suite
Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
Minimum of one year experience in hospital Medical Staff Services or similar experience required
Knowledge of credentialing processes and regulatory/accreditation standards
Education/Licensure/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
CPCS or CPMSM certification preferred
