Position Summary
This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. As a member of the Interdisciplinary Hospice and Palliative Team, the Bereavement Coordinator is responsible
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
1.Develops and coordinates an organized bereavement program for families and
2. Oversees that the interdisciplinary team makes an assessment of survivor risk factors at the
3. Works with the Volunteer Coordinator to provide education and training for the volunteerswho provide services for the bereavement program.
4. Ensures that community bereavement support groups are provided weekly.
5. Supervises and ensures complete and current documentation of family assessments, plans and
6. Provides bereavement education for staff and the community upon request.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements
Qualifications/Work Experience:
- Minimum of two years recent experience in a health care setting.
- Advanced education/experience related to grief, loss, death, bereavement and counseling required.
- Oncology or hospice experience preferred.
Education/Licensure/Certification:
- Minister holding a Master’s Degree in Theology from an accredited school of Theology
- One to two years post-graduate pastoral experience
- Certified Chaplain or education in clinical pastoral counseling
- Current California driver’s license with valid California car insurance and a good driving record.
