Position Summary
This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. The employee shall support Saddleback Medical Center’s strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities.
The Patient Account Representative is responsible for the registration, scheduling, billing, insurance verification, and authorizations for the Radiology Therapeutic department. In addition, this position is responsible for maintaining organized and efficient admin functions to support the delivery of care. The Patient Account Representative will also serve as a subject matter expert on subjects relating to medical record systems, downloading and uploading of patient information into our electronic medical record systems. Lastly, this role is accountable for preparing requests for treatment for the Physicians and the Radiation Therapists.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
1. Assists with the end to end processing of patient registration, scheduling, billing, authorization, and treatment planning to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement.
2. Maintains organized admirative support functions within the Radiology Therapeutic department, including but not limited to file management, report distribution, and computer system utilization.
3. Interacts with patients to ensure understanding, and overall positive patient care experience.
4. Enters emergent orders in accordance with outlined processes to support routine and prioritize emergent patient care needs.
5. Actively problem solves non-routine billing and or cancellation occurrences requiring contractual interpretation.
6. Assists in training of new staff personnel to the Radiology Therapeutic Department.
7. Supports the development and maintenance of department procedural manual updates and creates new manuals as appropriate to support changing and evolving business needs.
8. Demonstrates the ability to maintain accurate records in accordance with any applicable regulatory guideline or standard.

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Experience
• One year of experience in Radiology Therapeutic or Radiation Oncology field with an emphasis on scheduling, registration, authorization, and billing required
• Knowledge of insurance authorization and pre-certification billing
• Knowledge of medical terminology or Radiation Oncology procedures
• Proficient in computer functions, data entry and windows platforms
Education
• Highschool graduate or equivalent preferred
