Pay Range*: $94.00/hr - $136.00/hr

$10,000 signing bonus available to external hires new to MHS employment, contingent upon satisfaction of employment requirements.

Position Summary

The Perfusionist assists in open heart, major vascular, and trauma surgeries. He/she operates support systems and related equipment for these surgeries under direct physician supervision. The Perfusionist collaborates with the surgical team to ensure that all issues are addressed concerning cardiothoracic perfusion equipment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

·Effectively communicateswithother surgical teammembersregardingthepatient'ssurgery plan.Coordinatesevaluationwithother membersofthe multidisciplinary healthcare team to achieve desired goals and outcomes.

·Performs anddocuments assessmentofpatients' testingneeds throughdatacollectionandanalysis,includingcollectionofpertinenthistory andphysical information.Makesdecisionsaboutequipmentbasedoneachassessment,anddevelopsindividualizedplanforeachsurgicalpatient.

·Providespatientsandtheirfamilieswitheducationrelatedtoperfusionist'srole.Ensuresthatallquestionsandconcernsaresatisfactorilyresolved.

·Assumes responsibility for attaining, retaining, and renewing all applicable certifications and continuing education, as required by both statutory regulation anddepartmental policy.

·Reviewstechnicalproceduremanualforthedepartmentandmaysuggestcorrections,additions,andrecommendations.

·Regularlyprovidesclinicalleaderswithinformationpertainingtopatientsafety,opportunitiestoimproveoutcomesinsurgicalprocedures,andimprovements in systems and processes.

·Consistently applies knowledgeofpolicies andprocedures toprovideacost-conscious,safeenvironmentfor patients,staff,andother individuals inthe hospital.Follows hospital-widepolicies for safety,fire,hazardous materials,infectioncontrol,andmedical devices.

·Performsotherdutiesasassigned.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

 

·        1 year minimum perfusion experience

·        Previous supervisory experience preferred.

·        A working knowledge of cardioplegia delivery systems, cell saver, impella, IABP, and ECMO.

 

Education/Licensure/Certification:

 

·        Bachelor's degree in a related science field preferred.

·        Graduate of an accredited training program accredited by the Accreditation Committee for Perfusion Education in cooperation with the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) required.

·        Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) from the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion required.

·        BLS required.
